B I O G R A P H Y
Born in St.Peter a.K. (1951), in the Styrian region of Austria. Study of Technical Mathematics at the Technical University Graz. Earned Diploma degree and became Univ.-Assistent 1975. Got married to Kathi (1976). Obtained a Dr. techn. degree in 1983 under the supervision of Uli Dieter, with a thesis (in german) entitled Computer methods for generating t variates. Habilitation 1989 with the paper Sampling from Poisson, binomial and hypergeometric distributions: ratio of uniforms as a simple and fast alternative. Became Universitaetsprofessor in 1997. Father of six wonderful kids (Johanna, Lisa, Matthias, Stefanie, David and Elena) and grandfather of Chiara (born November 01, 2000).
