Environmental Modelling

The load of particulate matter PM10 is a crucial problem in several regions of Europe. In October 2004 we started with the EU-Life Project KAPA-GS: Klagenfurts Anti-PM10 Action Programme in Co-operation with Graz and South Tyrol. As one of our first results we obtained a prediction model for the daily concentration of the next day in the center of Graz. Our investigations aim to find the most important factors influencing the daily PM10 concentration in the cities of Graz, Klagenfurt and Bozen.

In 1994 an interdisciplinary project started to establish the mathematical background of modeling material accounting and mass balancing. This was the basis for the development of the commercial software system AUDIT with the actual release AUDIT 3.0 (software for an efficient ecological management). By directly comparing the use of various types of materials and energy in a balance sheet (e.g. for a production facility), AUDIT 3.0 enables companies to examine their consumption of materials and energy. Its objective is to locate areas where costs can be saved and the environmental impact minimized. For further information, please contact Tatjana Rajh (TRrajh@audit.at).
