DATA MINING

During my sojourn in Germany I was researching in the field of Data Mining. This emerging field is very interesting and exerts a very strong attraction on researchers of a wide variety of fields, e. g. machine learning, statistics, informatics and so on. Due to the fast growth of data bases in organizations, one can expect that Data Mining will even become more interesting and important in the future.
A well accepted definition of Data Mining is
the exhaustive search for interesting patterns in large databases.
In this sense it is a part of the whole process of extraction of knowledge from large data bases. The whole process is commonly called Knowledge Discovery .
