The Statistical Modelling Society was formed in June 2003, with the purpose of encouraging and developing the use of statistical modelling in research and applied problems. The major activity of the society is a yearly international workshop, which this year was held in Sydney, Australia. Our workshops are friendly and supportive, and we particularly encourage students to attend and to present, giving them the opportunity to speak to many of the world experts on statistical modelling.
We already have nearly 200 members from all continents of the world, although most of our members are European. Your membership includes a year's subscription to the journal Statistical Modelling. One of our early initiatives will be to encourage courses and focused workshops throughout the world, and the society can award partially fundings in this area.
Futher details about ongoing activities, chronological informations, and other yearly news of the Statistical Modelling Society are recorded in our annual Statistical Modelling Bulletin. This series provides an interesting history log of the Society.
